故事发生在东北三线小城，讲述的是一位耄耋之年的老人，在老伴去世的两年后，女儿在外工作，对父亲的情感很平淡，很少与父亲交谈，一次偶然的回家，发现父亲一个人孤单的生活，仅有40年之久的好友老王，以及刚认识不久的赵阿姨，短暂的熟悉下，两人都在心里植入了陪伴的种子，赵阿姨儿子的回来之后决定出国、以及老王的突然脑梗离世，让老吴心里承受了巨大的压力，女儿不忍父亲，决定取消在一线城市打拼，回到老家生活。
